Whilst there are a huge amount of advantages that come from owning a PlayStation 4, it’s perhaps the exclusive games which are the biggest attraction. The exclusive catalogue seems to be increasing at an ever rapid pace and whilst 2016 is expected to bring more titles than seen before, this article takes a look at some of the best currently available.
With a large amount to choose from, this wasn’t an easy task. But, this article takes a look at the current top 5 picks (based on opinion)…
Until Dawn
The horror genre has many titles which all have far too many similarities, however, Until Dawn provided something very different. It’s fair to say that this game delivers on every front and gives us an opening to a new and fresh take not really seen before. Instead of giving us all-out gruesomeness, which your typical horror does, Until Dawn gives you a movie themed plot, which is thought provoking at the core and changes based on the decisions you make. It takes you on a journey, but it’s your decisions which decide how the story unfolds. What’s more, the location is stunning, story engaging and the suspense… well… thrilling. This true gem was instantly a huge hit and a re-make appears to be already in the works.
Bloodborne
It was big, bold and promised everything. Did it deliver? Absolutely. For RPG and horror fans, Bloodborne was a dream come true – a true gem. Rich environments, stunning graphics, thrilling gameplay, and an overall amazing atmosphere – Bloodborne was nothing short of an award winner, and that is what it become. Bloodbrone delivered everything that a true RPG fan could want, from the gothic environments to the brilliant gameplay – it really offers the full package.
The Order: 1886
Before hand, it was an obvious GOTY winner, only the story could let this golden title down. But let us down it did, slightly. Set in the hearts of London, many had this one down as a potential award winner. Ultimately, it didn’t quite become the full-package many had hoped, however, it did deliver stunning visuals and a sub-decent story – but it’s the gameplay which didn’t live up to expectations. Whilst it could have become so much more, this title is more than worthy of a play through.
DriveClub
Racing is a genre which the PS4 is waiting to excel in, after all, GT Sport is expected within the coming year – and what a gem that’s expected to be. However, meanwhile, Driveclub is a great game that delivers an absolute stunning visual experience. Gameplay is decent, but it’s the weather effects and locations which really turn this game into a true quality racing title. From the falling snow to the rain drops, it’s perfectly captured and brings a whole new realism to racing and console gaming.
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture
Indie games don’t usually attract mass attention, however, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture was one of the growing examples of just how impressive such a title can be. The setting, an English county, where the grass is green, birds sing, and relaxation is prime is an extremely enticing aspect to gameplay. However, the baffling discoveries that you find as you explore the location are what really turn this spectacle into and award winner.
It’s fair to say that we’ve only just begun, that’s because 2016 looks crazy with the line-up of PS4 exclusives. I could have done a top 20, but why not drill down to personal favourites? What’s more, bring on 2016, the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and The Last Guardian are just three picks I think will be huge. As the list continues to expand and the PS4 matures, it feels as though Sony are living up to the term we have all become so accustomed to.
