With a confirmation that the PS5 is due to hit the market next year (2020), you might be wondering why you’d invest in new gadgets for the PS4 now. It’s a good question, but if you take a look at our list of tech-tastic add-ons, you’ll need no further explanation.
If you already finished your Christmas list, it’s time to make some room.

1. HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset
Yes, it may not be glamorous, but if you’re looking for the best PS4 gaming headset that won’t break your bank, this is the one. Highly rated by gamers, this headset delivers great audio quality and snappy sound effects.
It’s a bit tragic that it’s a wired headset, but for a whopping £34.99, you can’t really complain. Check it out here! We’ve also included a bit of a more premium option in this list too, for those of us ‘fancy’ gamers out there.
2. Sony PlayStation VR
Okay, okay, we know you love the Oculus, but the PS VR system is nothing to ignore. It’s frankly, pretty great. Dive into the next level of gaming with HD graphics at 120 fps and a pretty good library of games like Resident Evil (horror game in VR, yes please).
We have it on good authority that it’s best to purchase the set as a bundle, due to the fact that it doesn’t really work without the camera. It’s not the cheapest thing, but you can get the headset, camera and 5 games for £299 here. Merry Christmas to you!
3. Astro C40 TR Controller
Officially Licensed by Sony and top-rated overall for performance, the Astro C40 TR Controller is a great option if you want something other than the standard Dualshock model (which is decent on its own don’t get us wrong).
It’s a fully customizable controller and also wireless so you don’t have to worry about being plugged in, besides 12 hours of battery life should cover your marathon. Just to also slide this in there, with a 2-year warranty, your rages (throwing it against the wall) are covered. You can treat yourself here.
4. bedee PS4 Cooling Stand
It’s a bit of an un-thought of gadget and something you might not instantly look for, but it’s definitely something to consider. The bedee PS4 Cooling Stand is a space saver, cooling unit, and dual charging dock all in one. Yes, you read right. It can charge, cool your PS4, store your hard-copy games and look cool in the process.
They’ve made an improved cooling system for better air circulation and reducing noise to 50DB. Should you be stuck for a gift this Christmas or want to enhance your own PS4 gaming setup, we recommend it. Check it out here.
5. PDP Bluetooth Cloud Remote
Released this year, Sony’s new remote is a definite upgrade to the older model. It’s a great and handy gadget for those who need easier navigation along with basic TV controls. Features?;
I’m a lazy type of person and this is just the thing I’d want (don’t tell anybody). Usually priced around £29.99, it’s a cheaper alternative to some of the things we’ve put in this list, but should still make any hardcore PS4 gamer happy. You can buy it here.
6. SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless Headset
Ah yes, SteelSeries. The brand is well known for its quality gaming gear and as a personal owner (I’m not biased) of one of their Arctis line, I can say that the hype is not over-stated. Boasting a low price and awesome specs, it’s a great gift or treat for yourself delivering incredible audio with ultra-low latency.
Best features? It’s also a set of headphones you can take with you on the go! Inclusive of multiple compatibility cables and a USB C dongle, you can connect to the headphones and use them during travel, PUBG mobile anyone? Also boasting 20 hours of battery life, it’ll last longer than your Minecraft stream. Check it out here.
7. Dualshock 4 Charging Station
If you know, you know. The Dualshock controllers are notorious for their terrible battery life and after needing to charge them on such a frequent basis, one must look for a great solution, unless you want to invest in a controller like the Astro.
This charging station is a great replacement instead of the traditional need to connect the controller via USB to the PS4. Yes, you won’t be able to play in the meantime, but according to PlayStation it can charge a completely dead controller to full in around 2 hours or less. We’d say, it’s a pretty good choice. Have a look here.
8. Thrustmaster T300 RS GT Racing Wheel
Our last one is a fun one for sure. This Racing Wheel is just what that car game fanatic needs under their Christmas tree. It’s officially licensed by Sony and labeled as a high-end racing simulator, so you know they won’t let any detail slip under the cracks. They also have different style options including a collab with Ferrari, so you can feel like an OG from the comfort of your living room.
Is it incredibly expensive enough to make our eyes water just a bit? Yes. But is it a really cool gadget, yes to that too. Thank us later: Racing Wheel.
We hope we’ve given you some great ideas for those last-minute techy PS4 gifts you’ve been looking for. Don’t hesitate to share in the comments which one you’re adding to your list!
