With many physical casinos still closed around the world – and many countries still prohibiting online casino gaming – you may be wondering how you can get the authentic casino experience on your gaming hardware. Luckily, Sony’s old faithful PlayStation 4 can deliver on this front. You see, there are a wealth of excellent casino games available for the PS4. Whether it’s full-featured casino minigames embedded within larger experiences or dedicated casino games in their own right, the PS4 is the perfect machine on which to play casino games. Here are the best casino games you can play on your PS4 in 2021.
Online web browser casino games
Unlike the PlayStation 5, the PS4 has a built-in web browser that you can use to check out online casino platforms. This gives you a wealth of options (no pun intended) when it comes to casino gaming for real money on your PS4, should you want to. For example, accessing the Olybet website – which gives you a whole host of casino games to check out, excellent rates, and a wonderful environment in which to enjoy them – is easy with your PS4’s built-in web browser. If you want to play for cash, then the only real option available to you is online web browser casino games, but you’ll be glad you checked them out.
The Four Kings Casino and Slots
For the full, authentic casino experience, look no further than The Four Kings Casino and Slots. It’s a fully-fledged casino sim that allows you to create your own avatar, explore a casino environment, and try out some casino classics including blackjack, roulette, and Texas hold’em poker. Publisher Digital Leisure describes the game as a “social MMO”, and that’s pretty accurate; you can socialise with your friends and hang out with them just as you would in a physical casino, making this an excellent option for anyone who misses the hum and hiss of a real casino environment. Oh, and did we mention it’s free to play?
Prominence Poker
From the glitz and glamour of Vegas to the sultry dirt of a poker basement. Prominence Poker takes place in the fictional city of Prominence, a gambling paradise set up by poker fanatics and ruled over by the shadowy Mayor. You must work your way up to battling the Mayor as he guides you through your poker career, showing you the ropes and introducing you to Prominence Poker’s colourful cast. Prominence Poker does, of course, allow you to battle your friends in multiplayer, but this is one of the only casino sims with a fully-featured single-player experience. It’s worth checking out on the strength of that alone, although its AI is excellent.
Pure Hold’em
As the title suggests, Pure Hold’em is a more pure and unfettered simulation of the beautiful game of poker. While it isn’t a casino sim per se, it does take place in some seriously glamorous casino-style environments and offers a thorough, accurate poker sim with plenty to love if you’re a fan of the game. This one isn’t free like the last two on the list, but it’s well worth the price of entry just for the visuals, which are breathtaking. Again, this one has multiplayer support as well, so if you decide you’ve fallen in love with it, then invite your friends to check it out and take you on for the crown. Who really has what it takes to be the monarch of Pure Hold’em?
Grand Theft Auto Online
Who would have thought that the world’s foremost open-world crime sandbox would have a pretty faithful recreation of a Vegas-style casino in it? Grand Theft Auto Online’s Diamond Casino and Resort is as close to a real-life gambling house as you’re ever going to get, but you can’t play with real money (which, given the occasionally egregious behaviour of GTA Online players, is almost certainly for the best). The Diamond Casino and Resort has plenty of casino classics to enjoy, and they’re all solid recreations of the games you can play in brick-and-mortar casinos. If you’re already a GTA Online player and you want a great casino game on your PS4, you could really do worse than GTA Online.
Red Dead Redemption 2
There’s something about Rockstar’s simulations of casino games that just hits the mark every time. As part of its mission to recreate the Wild West as authentically as possible, Red Dead Redemption 2 prominently features many casino-style games across its saloons, including poker, blackjack, and more. You can also partake in five-finger fillet, which you won’t find in actual casinos because it’s incredibly dangerous (it’s that game where you stab the spaces between your fingers and increase the speed as you go). Soaking up the atmosphere of Red Dead Redemption 2 while enjoying some poker is some of the most relaxing, compelling gaming you’re likely to find.
Vegas Party
The final PS4 casino game on our list is a rather fun little oddity. It’s a cartoony, over-the-top representation of the Vegas Strip in which your objective is to reach the end before your opponents do. Along the way, you can enjoy various minigames based on casino favourites, and while this won’t scratch the itch if you’re looking for verisimilitude, it’s a rip-roaring good time anyway, especially if you enjoy it with some friends. Vegas Party takes a skewed, humorous look at Sin City, and manages to provide some extremely fun casino action while it does so. You could do much worse for casino gaming on your PS4!
