DriveClub has come a long way since it launched a year ago on the PlayStation 4, indeed in some aspects it’s an entirely different experience. Developer, Evolution Studios, is continuing to upgrade the DriveClub experience with a fresh update that brings plenty of new goodies to the racing sim party, including some stuff requested by fans.
The download build is v1.20 and it is available from today (July 20) for free, if you already own DriveClub of course. As I mentioned, there are plenty of new additions, but the chief among them is the inclusion of brand new Elite Driver Levels. These new tiers mean you can now increase your skill rank past level 60. Obviously this is for the serious DriveClub enthusiast and challenges those experts of the game to level up by earning fame points and gathering Tour Stars.
The high octane thrills continue with a new Random Event option that lets you enter a quickly selected event (the title rather gives it away really) and get into the action faster. There are also differences in the Club Leaderboards, with a new interface implemented.
The realism of DriveClub is what sells the game, but that camera shake may be too much for the more casual race fan, so there is now an option to tone down the intensity of the shaky cam. Also making it to the v1.20 update are new Tour Pack that should be hitting the PlayStation Store by the end of this month.
A pretty thorough upgrade then, but Evolution Studios says the fan service does not end there as the company is working on more updates in the near future that will add requested features such as Private Lobbies and more.
