This year has been packed with next-level releases from much-anticipated titles like CoD: Modern Warfare and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint to cult favourite Death Stranding. I’ve got to admit, it’s been a good year so far and while every game has their low lights, I’ll be honest that I’ve pretty much loved them all.
It’s important to remember though that the release spree isn’t over yet and many other hyped tales will be hitting the PS4 platform late into 2019 and early 2020. I’ve compiled a ‘hot list’ of 6 upcoming launches you definitely need to look out for.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Let’s be fair, this game has its lovers and its haters, though with Respawn seemingly taking inspiration from other beloved games, Fallen Order has the potential to be an incredible open world story. With epic lightsaber battles, unique details, exploration puzzles and stunning graphics, follow the story of the last of the Jedi order, now on the run as a fugitive from Imperial forces.
According to @gameranx, the original impression of the game simply being a short 8 hour story is likely not to be the case. Their open world concept extends into an entire universe of exploring, just pop in your ship and fly away to your heart’s delight, exactly what we love from a story-based game.
Save the date: Launches Nov. 15th 2019.
Doom Eternal
This game is 1% disturbing and 99% epic, hands-down. The much-anticipated sequel to the original Doom, they’ve taken this round’s gameplay to the next level with redesigned characters, weapons, and absolutely stunning locations that frankly made my heart pound.
I’ll be honest, it certainly isn’t for the light of heart with blood and gore at the maximum level possible, but we love that, don’t we? For any fan of the original game, Bethesda have certainly exceeded expectations with this insane single-player sequel. A statement directly from the game directors: ‘We’re not just creating a Doom game, we’re creating a Doom Universe’.
Save the date: Launches Nov. 22nd 2019.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot
Coming from CyberConnect2, the developers behind Naruto Ultimate Ninja, fans can get excited with yet another nostalgic Dragon Ball Z sequel. What’s different? It’s a full-blown action RPG with character levels, an explorable world, side quests and a plethora of items to use.
There’s not much we can say about this game besides the fact that you’ll experience epic fights and all the good feelings that come along with this series. The developers have done a great job making the story appear just like an Anime, exactly how we want it.
Save the date: Launches Jan. 17th 2020.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Talk about hype, gamers everywhere haven’t been able to stop talking about this remake since Square Enix announced it 4 years ago. After E3 2019, fans are watching the clocks until it launches in March of 2020.
With unique new combat mechanisms, a useful tactical mode, special attacks, upgraded graphics, and an incredible soundtrack, the developers have given the game new life since the original was released 22 years ago. Overall, it looks like a super fun game I’ll likely have to try.
Watch Dogs Legion
The new continuation of the Watch Dogs series has a great motto that pretty much sums up the game, ‘play as anyone’. This is a unique point in the game which allows you to actually play as anyone, seriously even a grandma (I found this absolutely hilarious). Streamers, pay attention, lots of rich content right here.
Set in futuristic London, England it’s your job to build a resistance to give the city back to the people from corrupt opportunists. As an engaging open-world game, you’ll continue on with the Ded-Sec squad, hacking doors & equipment and solving puzzles to complete missions. All in all, I’m pretty hyped about this game and I definitely think it’ll live up to expectations.
Save the date: Launches Mar. 6 2020
Cyberpunk 2077
One thing, Keanu Reeves. That should make you buy the game anyway. On a serious note, this gritty, open-world game is the futuristic tale we need in our lives. Playing the role of a mercenary, you’ll have unique skills that are an integral aspect of completing missions in the game, along with a bountiful arsenal of ranged weapons.
Filled with gang violence and foul-mouthed characters, this is actually a thought-provoking representation of what might happen in our real futures. Frankly, I don’t think the game is over-hyped and as it contains stunning graphics and engaging gameplay, it’ll be something that’ll end up in my library after release.
So that’s all for my hot list of upcoming PS4 launches. Give a shout if there is anything other releases we’ve missed that you just can’t wait for anymore. We hope we’ve given you a brief look and the epicness soon to come and maybe just maybe, you’ll be playing them too.
