We all need a bit of indulgence every now and then. And in the run-up to Valentine’s Day, what better time to indulge in a sickly-sweet animé romp? For that quintessential animé vibe, there’s nothing quite like a Japanese action game complete with all the expected charms of scantily clad warriors, jiggle physics in the chest area, and hairstyles we can only dream of pulling off. Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon could be just the adventure you’ve been looking for with oodles of romantic undertones to keep you keen. Playing as Aluche, a Holy Knight serving…
Sony’s PlayStation Classic
Last Wednesday Sony announced their small and mighty PlayStation Classic, an homage to the original PlayStation, offering fans a cherry-picked collection of some of the best PlayStation games. Sony confirmed that the 20 titles were chosen for their popularity within the original PlayStation fanbase, however, the title list is tailored to each region. You’ll soon be able to pre-order it here. These are a few of the confirmed titles: Final Fantasy VII Jumping Flash R4 Ridge Racer Type 4 Tekken 3 Wild Arms While the regional tailoring does make sense on some level, it’s frustrating to think that players from…
Ninjin: Clash of Carrots Review
Ninjin: Clash of Carrots is a pleasantly packaged, adequately challenging side-scrolling beat ‘em up from Pocket Trap. With simple controls, rewarding gameplay and a fairly extensive loadout, this is a neat little title that even beat ‘em up newbies should definitely try out. Let’s start off with one of Ninjin: Clash of Carrots’s more obvious qualities. It feels good to play. Movement is smooth and just the right amount of floaty, the controls are intuitive, and the combat is slick with some seriously solid slicing of enemies. It’s very satisfying to dice your way through a pack of lower level…
Phantom Doctrine Review
Are you looking for a tactical turn-based strategy with deep roots in espionage and a strong 80’s spy vibe? Look no further than Phantom Doctrine, a strategic spy thriller with all the management and RPG elements of XCOM 2 with a Cold War-era spin. If you’re looking for a straightforward TBS gameplay experience however, this is not the game for you. Phantom Doctrine is jam-packed with layers upon layers of management and what is essentially paper-pushing. This is a game that demands your attention and, as a newcomer to the genre, I thought all my disputes with the game were…

Q.U.B.E 2 Review
I very rarely see myself as someone who particularly enjoys puzzle games. That is, until I play something exceptionally innovative and original, like Portal, Monument Valley or indeed Tetris. QUBE2 has definitely made it onto that special list of puzzle games that I start playing and don’t stop playing until my eyes feel like they’re no longer attached to my face. I was immediately hooked by the addictive, brain teasing physical puzzles. They were extremely solid and clever. You meet each challenge as a blank slate on which to project your ideas, again, similar to Portal and building on the…
Almost a year on from its initial release, ArmaGallant: Decks of Destiny is a struggling title. In its own words, it’s a MORPG where a player “creates a battle deck to bring to fast paced real time strategy battles”. It follows on from the success of other popular MMORPGs, such as league of legends and Dota 2, with its generally similar gameplay style, objectives, and map. ArmaGallant does something a little different though, combining the familiar gameplay with an added sprinkling of card game strategy, which I don’t doubt is a nod to Hearthstone’s immense success. Overall, you get the sense…
Cars 3: Driven to Win Review
Cars 3: Driven to Win is the movie tie-in game for Disney’s Cars 3 and is certainly a title worth thinking about for fans of the Pixar series. It’s essentially a smooth 3rd person racer with some crunchy shooting elements sprinkled into the mix with simple, easy to grasp driving mechanics for younger players. But don’t be fooled because this game beautifully avoids the patronising danger zone by adding some much-needed complexity for more experienced players with difficulty ramping up in some of the racing events. Racing in Cars 3: Driven to Win revolves around your ‘Turbo Boost’ ability which…

It’s easy to become sceptical or perhaps even cynical about annual Motorsport games. They often stick to the same recipe every year with few changes in terms of gameplay, focusing more on new locations and perhaps new vehicles. However, Milestone seek to rid us of our cynicism in a number of ways with their latest official Motocross videogame release, MXGP3. With basic gameplay improvements, a new dynamic weather system and Milestone finally ditching their outdated engine and embracing Unreal 4, this might be the game to change your mind. First of all, let’s talk about that long awaited, long overdue…

This instalment is boasting a fantastic new feature that’s sure to have series veterans excited.
