This error appears when:
- Using old system software or a failed update
- Network issues interfering with update downloads
How to Fix It
Update your PS5 system software:
- Connect to the Internet and go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings
- Choose Update System Software to download and install the latest firmware
- If the console cannot connect to the Internet, update via USB: download the update file from PlayStation.com, save it in the /PS5/UPDATE folder on a FAT32 or exFAT USB drive, plug the drive into the PS5, and select Update from USB Storage Device
- Alternatively, insert a disc containing newer firmware and follow on-screen prompts
