As October rolls in, it brings along a parade of new games for the PS4. You should also note that it’s the month when PS VR becomes a reality – sure to be exciting for those who have pre-ordered. With that said, here’s our list of the PS4 titles that have us reaching for the DualShock 4 this October!
Battlefield 1
Releasing on October 21, Battlefield 1 will introduce yet another option for fans of first-person shooter video games. We’re interested to see what new elements this game might bring to the genre. Right now, it looks like you’ll need to choose among three versions of the title, including the Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s editions. There’s still time to preorder if you want the special bonus items that Electronic Arts is doling out to the early birds.
Titanfall 2
Did you like Titanfall? Then you’ll appreciate its sequel, Titanfall 2, coming to a store near you on October 28. If you enjoy teaming up with other gamers, try the multiplayer options, including Attrition Mode. There’s also an upgraded single player campaign experience. Combine superb gameplay with fantastic graphics, and you’ve got a PS4 title well worth your time.
Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel
Are you ready to explore a new Dark Souls environment? Try out the next chapter in the Dark Souls series, called Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel. You’ll get to plunge into a snowy, bitterly cold region, swarming with packs of vicious wolves. Grab new weapons, armor, and items and boost your power by learning new spells that have never before appeared in the series. It’s definitely an expansion worth investigating, so check it out on October 25.
Mafia 3
Those who love open-world games are in for a treat with Mafia 3. Going back to the days when gangsters were hitting it big, the game takes place in the year of 1968 and is set in a city named New Bordeaux, which is a recreation of New Orleans. Lincoln Clay, the main character, is a Vietnam War veteran whose bold ambitions are to create an organization to rival that of the Italian mob. Ultimately, this game looks stunning and should appeal to those looking for a new open-world action-adventure to add to their collection. The only disappoint perhaps is the lack of an online multiplayer mode, but this title will excel with extensive single player gameplay.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition
Okay, so it’s not really a new game, but The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition is worthy of mention as one of October’s exciting offerings for PS4. This special edition incorporates beautifully remastered art, amazing special effects, and many other improvements to the graphics and visual elements. It’s packed with fresh quests, brand-new characters, unique environments, and new kinds of armor and weapons. If you’re an Elder Scrolls fan, you’ll want to experience this refreshed and augmented version of the game, beginning on October 28.
Batman: Arkham VR
Rolling out from Rocksteady is the much-anticipated Batman: Arkham VR. If you’re jumping onto the VR bandwagon, you’ll be able to play the game as if you are really the Dark Knight, seeing everything from his perspective, able to react to events in the game in a uniquely immersive way. Grab your mask and cape, because it looks like October 13 is red-letter day for this title.
Playstation Plus Free Games
Of course, there are always some eye-catching gems coming down the PlayStation Plus pipeline every month. For subscribers, some of the appealing titles might be Watch Dogs, Killzone: Shadow Fall, or The Evil Within. There’s also a chance that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag might be one of the free games. No one is sure yet, since Sony hasn’t confirmed the list.
