September 2015 is a big month for PS4 gamers. The annual summer gaming drought is finally coming to an end, and this year we have a lot of reasons to be very happy about that. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Mad Max, and Destiny: The Taken King are just a handful of the titles slated for release in September, and all of them look like they’re going to be amazing.
“Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain”- September 1st
You can’t talk about gaming this September without mentioning “MGSV”. Legendary game maker Hideo Kojima says goodbye to the series that’s been his life for thirty years in this final chapter of the “Metal Gear” saga, and it’s going to be good. The game has been getting 10s from review sites all over the world as hype continues to build in the few days left until release. You play as Big Boss, legendary soldier on a revenge mission against the people who have been doing him wrong since “Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.” With companions such as a scantily-clad sniper, a loyal wolf pup and a horse who can poop on command, Big Boss will be exploring open world environments (a first for the series) in Afghanistan and Africa as he brings the story of the “MGS” saga full circle. With base management, unlimited gameplay options, dynamic multiplayer, and a massive list of other features, you can expect to play “MGSV” for a long time to come.
“Mad Max”- September 1st
“Mad Max” releases on the same day as “MGSV”, which means sales will undoubtedly suffer at first… but that’s no reason to count this game out. The world of Mad Max has always seemed like the perfect playground for a video game (see: “Borderlands”), and this one looks like it’s going to do the movies justice. You play as the legendary Max in an open-world version of post-apocalyptic Australia, and all you have to rely on is your trusty vehicle (which you can upgrade and customize as you find parts throughout the world), a collection of wicked-looking guns and your own CQC skills (fans of the “Arkham” combat mechanics will be happy). If you like the “Mad Max” movies, open-world games or post-apocalyptic settings, pick this one up.
“Destiny: The Taken King”- September 15th
While technically an expansion and not a full game, “The Taken King” has so much content included with it that will add a ton to your “Destiny” experience. This is the third “Destiny” expansion, and you have to own the previous two in order to play this one. If you’re new to the game, though, don’t worry- every edition other than standard includes both previous expansions. As for what’s new in “The Taken King”, you’ll be fighting a new type of enemy, get access to three new subclasses, play in a massive new PvE environment, go on a plethora of new missions, enjoy new PvP maps and modes, and see a number of gameplay tweaks and changes. Anyone who is a fan of “Destiny” will get a lot out of “The Taken King”, so it’s definitely worth a pickup or download come the 15th.
