You love your PS4, and you don’t want to give up your gaming time; but once kids come into the picture, you can’t be an avid gamer anymore, right? Wrong! As soon as your kids are old enough, pass them a controller into their chubby little hands and teach them the finer points of console gaming. You’ll find that gaming as a family is a great way to spend quality time and to teach your kids how to handle losing or winning gracefully. Plus, you’re keeping your own gaming skills honed at the same time. It’s a win-win. Here’s the lineup of PS4 games that make for some awesome family game time.
Got dinosaur fans at home? Break out “Lego Jurassic World” for the PS4. If you’ve got a kid with a knack for science, they’ll love blending dino DNA in the lab. Tired of being the human who is always getting chased around? Play as dinosaurs instead! This game is big on fun and action, so you’ll find yourself as enthralled as your kids are.

Chariot
If you want to teach your kids about teamwork, try the game “Chariot.” It’s fast-paced and physics-based, with a princess thrown in to charm the girls. The point of the game is to bury the remains of a great king in a tomb piled high with wealth. Of course, there are would-be robbers to fight, gaping chasms to cross, and treasures to collect. The game is designed for cooperative players, so it’s perfect for a night in with the family.

Costume Quest 2
It doesn’t have to be Halloween for you and your kids to enjoy this colorful adventure. In the Costume Quest 2, clever little kids try to thwart the attempts of a dentist intent on ruining the spooky holiday. Even the little ones in the family will catch on quickly to the battle moves. As a bonus, there’s time travel and special powers involved. What’s not to love?
If you’re looking for something to make the whole family crack up, check out “Octodad: Dadliest Catch.” It’s all about an octopus trying to pass himself off as a human and a father. Silliness, crazy antics, and extreme fun ensue. Take turns controlling the weird yet charming Octodad while the other family members shout instructions and laugh at the wacky scenarios.
Got moves? The “Just Dance” games have always been great choices for parties and family gatherings, and “Just Dance 2015” for PS4 is no exception. The key here is to cheer for the silly, the crazy, and the totally terrible dances moves as well as the good ones. This game is rated 10 and up because of some of the song lyrics, so select numbers that work well for your kids’ maturity level.
Every year, game makers produce more fantastic PS4 games that cater to multiple players of all age levels. Stay tuned for fresh lists of top games for families, for friends, and just for you.
My favourite gaming console is the PS4, of course, and in my spare time I love to write.
